Keep stock records useful from day one
Start with clear units, opening stock and recorded movements.
Agree on units and opening quantities
Review item names and units before entering stock. Count actual opening quantities and record adjustments explicitly rather than editing away differences.
Record purchases and movements
Keep purchases, transfers, usage and damaged-stock records attached to the correct shop and day. Review ingredient mappings where consumption calculations depend on them.
Review differences with evidence
Compare a physical count with the recorded position and investigate missing purchases or movements. Inventory is only as reliable as the records and mappings that feed it.
